ADVISORY NO. 2
REGISTRATION AND ACCOMMODATION UPDATE

Before anything else, Creative Commons – Philippines and the Arellano University School of Law extend their warmest felicitations to everyone with the advent of a new year.

The Organizing Committee of the 2009 CC Asia Pacific Regional Conference received electronic communications from foreign participants raising some concerns about our online registration system, wire transfer arrangements for registration fees and advance hotel accommodation payments for the Waterfront Manila Pavillion Hotel, and the registration deadline to avail of the discounted hotel rates.

The Organizing Committee would like to express its sincerest apologies for these hitches and lapses. Unfortunately, the Organizing Committee was unable to immediately respond to these concerns because of the sudden declaration of our government of a public holiday that extended continuously from 24 December 2008 to 5 January 2009. In short, during this period, most people were on holidays, and where there was generally no work and no banking transactions.

In any event, rest assured that the Organizing Committee is working doubly hard to ensure the success of the conference that would take place in less than a month from now. And part of this effort is the following announcement/update on registration and accommodation:

1. The registration deadline for foreign participants is now extended until 20 January 2008. If you are sure to attend the event on 5-6 February 2008 and have not registered yet, register by simply using the on-line registration at www.cc-asiapacific.net or by sending an email with your name and contact information confirming your participation either at the following: jimmy AT soriano-ph DOT com, mymails AT marsdecastro DOT com or guerrero AT mydestiny DOT net. Feel free to let us know if you need an official invitation from us and we would be glad to send it to you electronically in PDF format within 24 hours.

2. The registration fee of US$200 of foreign participants who are non-CC or non-CCi affiliated must be paid not later than 20 January 2009 still via wire transfer at the following bank account:

3. The registration fee of PhP2,500 of local participants must be paid not later than 30 January 2009 via online deposit at the following bank account:

Upon making the online deposit, make sure to fax the deposit slip to us indicating the name of the local participant at Fax No. (02) 5223467. In the alternative, we can make arrangement to collect your payment, just send us a text message at 09152914028 or 09152036295.

4. If you intend to stay at the Waterfront Manila Pavillion Hotel for your stay in Manila, you can book or make reservations by sending an email to a.suntay AT waterfronthotels DOT net and indicate that you are a Creative Commons Asia Pacific Conference participant to avail of the special rates as published in Advisory No. 1 . You can arrange to pay in credit card or arrange your booking by providing your credit card information. You are guaranteed of the special accommodation rate if you book on or before 20 January 2009. After this date, the special rate may still apply subject to the availability of your preferred hotel room (refer to Advisory No. 1 ).

[NOTE – The names of those participants who have already registered and indicated their length of stay and room preference were already forwarded to Waterfront Manila Pavillion. Simply email a.suntay AT waterfronthotels DOT net to confirm your reservations and arrangements for payment.]

5. If you opted to stay in other hotels, feel free to make your own reservations. We will appreciate however if you can inform us of your participation, the name of your hotel where you are booked, and the inclusive dates of your stay by sending an email at mymails AT marsdecastro DOT com.

6. We have packaged an Optional Whole Day Tour for you on 7 February 2009, the day after the conference. You may join either:

  • Option A – Tour of Old Manila (parks and historical sites) at the rate US$50 inclusive of food, entrance fees and transportation.
  • Option B - Sun Fun at Terrazas de Punta Fuego beach resort at Nasugbu, Batangas (a province south of Manila) at the rate of US$75 inclusives of food, entrance fees, and transportation.

Once you have confirmed your participation with us, we would like request that you immediately furnish us with the folllowing information:

  1. Passport Name (if other than the name you customarily use)
  2. Date and Time of Arrival (with Flight No.)
  3. Date and Time of Departure (with Flight No.)
  4. Name of Hotel Where You are Booked (with inclusive dates of stay)
  5. Whether you are participating in the Optional Tour indicating your preference (Option A or B)
  6. Indicate whether you have special dietary limitations (e.g. no meat diet, no pork diet, etc.)

The next advisory to be released would be on the conference program of activities. Should you wish participate actively in the conference program as a CC or CCi affiliate or officer, feel free to communicate with Co-Convenor Atty.
